Snowy Egret vs. Great Egret what is the Difference?

Hey everyone that is reading my blog. I recently did a trip to Ormond Beach Florida for a week,  where I was able to do sunrise photography and Coastal Wildlife Photography. This is snowy egret common in the Florida coastal beaches. This snow egret was catching a fish and wading into shallow waters to catch this fish. How you can tell the difference between the Snowy Egret and the Great Egret is the Snowy Egret has a bright yellow patch in between its eyes. which you can see in the photograph. The Great Egret has a large orange pointed bill, The snowy egret does not have this. I have never caught a snowy egret catching a fish until now at Ormond Beach, Florida.

Sunset Sunday # 4

Happy Sunset Sunday # 4 !!  I took this photo at the Five oaks Pond on February 11th, 2017. I had to underexpose to keep the colors just like they were during the sunset conditions.. Have a great Sunday everyone !

Followup Trip of Hilton Head, SC

I just enjoyed a trip to Hilton Head, SC. Which this town in south carolina is the oldest town and city in this area. I got to see the famous lighthouse called The Harbour Town Lighthouse which was built in 1969 and Completed in the Spring of 1970. I got to climb all the way to the top of the lighthouse to see the incredible views from on top of the lighthouse. I also did some different types of composition for my photos that I took on my trip at Hilton Head and during my visits to the harbor.  I really enjoyed Hilton Head and hope to come again soon to visit and get more pictures here.

OH Supermoon!!

Did anyone one witness the rare encounter tonight of the Supermoon in December?? I sure encountered it and photographed it.. It was very rare to have a supermoon in December but there are many more coming in January 2018 back to back. \ This supermoon is called the cold moon in December.. This is called the cold moon because its the month when winter begins and its the coldest at night . I think its cool that the full moons have names for each month of the year. Peace out everyone until next time on the blog when more posts are coming!!

Sunset Sunday 3

This sunset for this Sunday was taken December 2nd at my neighborhood  pond.. I had to underexpose to make the colors pop out to what they seemed to look like during yesterdays sunset. Enjoy todays weather and sunset conditions and even the SUPER FULL MOON!!! I might even get pictures of it myself and make fun of AL D still when he does not expect it to come !!!!

A quick one from tonights Sunset

I decided to make another post tonight called a quick one from tonights sunset. I decided to make the leaf ( the subject) be the center of attention with the sunset colors behind it to make it look very artsy for tonight.. Everyone have a great evening!!!

End of the month

Happy end of the Month of November everyone!!!  I have not been posting in such a long time because of work and projects and etc. So its time to end with this months end of the month which is the winning crescent moon which I took this past week with my new camera lens the 150-600 mm. I used the program mode on my camera with the ISO set to 800 which gave me amazing results of the moon. Now that is winter, I am doing more astronomy pictures and birding pictures for the blog. It so far has given me amazing results of the pictures that I have taken with it . I got this new lens for my 26th birthday!  Its hard to believe that November has come and gone already!

Happy November

Happy November Everyone !!  Its hard to believe that daylight savings time is this weekend !  Its time to fall back an hour on Saturday but you gain an hour of sleep!

Abstracts for September

Its finally the end of September. The pictures that are seen for my end of month abstract were down on a photo trip with my photography mentor ..   Fall colors have already started on many trees already.. Have a great end of the Month.

A new visitor at the Pond

I went outside today to my neighborhood pond to see what I could photograph ahead of this tremendous Hurricane that is coming our  way on  September 12. Todays weather felt like it was fall already.. Its hard to believe fall weather is coming already in North Carolina ahead of this hurricane. Today it was in the sixties earlier today and it went into the 70s todays. I think fall weather has already come through ahead of the hurricane . I looked around and spotted a Great Egret , who portably made its way here from Florida to escape the hurricane that is approaching soon. Great Egrets are usually found on the coast not in neighborhood ponds,  but this a rare thing to find them in neighborhood ponds. I kept getting photographs of the Great Egret in my neighborhood pond including the flight he took that he landed at the pond and continued  taking photographs of the Great Egret.

Adventure of Lightning

Finally, The day has come that I did my own lightning pictures yesterday.. I bet my mentor Al D did not take advantage of this storm of lightning photography instead i did. When I had gone outside to do some night shots of critters in the dark , I looked up and there was a lightning show appearing from a storm that I had looked on the radar map. I took advantage of the thunderstorm shoot and did lightning pictures instead. The storm cell , I had been looking at on the radar was 4 miles southeast of where I live. But this time I did the pictures on my own and I got amazing results of the storm. I saw many lightning bolts and inner cloud lightning in this storm cell. Which made it very cool to photograph at night, You have to wait for it to be dark enough to see the lightning at night and photograph it . I went under the manual setting on the camera and set it to the time exposures and counted down when each lightning bolt had occurred and triggered the shutter to make these

Total Solar Eclipse

Today was the Total Solar Eclipse where the moon blocks out  the sun to make a total solar eclipse.. The last solar eclipse was 30 years ago.   I am posting before the old man,  AL D  posts his pictures of the total solar eclipse. This was my first time ever photographing a total solar eclipse. I was taking the pictures at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Before I planned the trip I had met with the old man,  Al D who is being made fun of tonight, because he is not posting about the solar eclipse yet but I am writing about it. The goal of taking pictures of solar eclipse is you have to have special solar glasses and a special solar filter to capture the moments of the total solar eclipse. Just like I have done.. The goal of mine this year was to take pictures of the total solar eclipse and I have finally done it. The conditions were perfect at the begin of the total solar eclipse and by the time it was supposed to be at brightest the sun hide behind the clouds and I couldn't

Sunset Sunday # 2

Happy Sunset Sunday # 2.. This sunset was taken at my neighborhood pond this past winter.. Winter is the best time to photograph sunsets and sunrises. This sunset was taken on December 29, 2016.. Have a great Sunday everyone !!

Sunrise Saturday # 1

I have decided once again to start a new theme on Saturdays called " Sunrise Saturday".. I think doing different themes on the weekends on my blog are really cool. The sunrise you see here was taken at Topsail Beach during my vacation in March 2017. I was up early at dawn to take photos of pre dawn to sunrise and got amazing results of the pre dawn to dawn and then to the  sunrise. Sunrise Photography is very cool to do , you have to be up really early to do this !

Macro Monday # 1

Hello everyone,  happy Monday to my blog readers.. I have decided to create another theme called Macro Mondays !!! I recently did this macro work on a photo outing while I had my vacation week from camp. I decided to go to the Eno River for photo shot location. I decided to do some macro work while I was there photographing wildflowers and some insects that you might find here in North Carolina. The temperature that morning was very nice but half way through the photo shot it started getting hot and humid and I was sweating a lot and I got to go in the Eno River and do some pictures in the water too. Have an awesome Monday!

Sunset Sunday #1

I decided to start a new theme on Sundays called Sunset Sundays.. This a very cool theme to do on Sunday besides someone I know, Al D. Who does his Sunday slides.. But I am doing a different theme instead for my blog. I recently did this sunset shot on Jordan Lake during my vacation week off from camp.  The weather that day was a bit rainy and way in the distant, my mentor and I saw a thunderstorm produce lightning during this sunset shot which was very cool to see at sunset. I had to underexpose to keep the colors golden when the colors becomes that golden color after the sunsets.

oh my, fishing spiders

This morning I had the opportunity to got o the Eno River with my photography mentor.   We we are able to get photographs of three fishing spiders that are common in this area of the Eno River, they also live around this area in North Carolina.  One of the fishing spiders, I photographed was eating a meal which it had previously caught. Indeed it was a dragonfly.  I have always wanted to catch the moment of a fishing spider eating its prey and now I have done it for the first time ever while it was eating a dragonfly.  There will be another post tonight on the sunset at Jordan Lake, So stay tuned into my blog.

Mountain Trip Followup

I recently did a mountain trip to Lake Lure, North Carolina for a few days. I got to relax, hike, do my own photography while I was there particularly nature photography and Kayaking on Lake Lure. In the lake near the rental condo we rented for three days, I went down in the afternoon to see what was happening at the lake along with the conditions in the area and wildlife behavior and habitats. I was able to get photos of the dragonflies, some macro insects and geese and ducks on the lake. I was noticing some behaviors that the geese were doing on the lake while I was photographing them. The next day, I did some kayaking on Lake Lure. I am well at doing kayaking since I have done it many times in the past. I have done white water rafting in Arizona, the outer banks of North Carolina and now kayaking in the mountains of North Carolina. The next evening I went back to lake Lure to see the sunset and photograph it over the mountains that surrounded Lake Lure. The moun

Friday Color

Hey Everybody I am back and posting again after weeks and weeks of not posting anything.  So I am bringing back a theme that I ruined months and months ago for this Friday called Friday color this time. I decided to be snarky this time against my mentor and post something before he comes back from his beach trip. To the left you see a sunset I recently did last Saturday may 13th. The conditions were just right for the sunset that day. So i decided to use a new filter I got just in the past few months to check out how it works with sunrise and sunset colors. I looked like it came out awesome from the filter and my use of my knowledge of sunset conditions. The last color photo I am posting was done on May 13th also. I did macro work to show this baby bumble on the flower floating around trying to find pollen.
