COVID 19 symptoms vs Flu Symptoms vs Cold Symptoms

Since you all know we are in the COVID 19 pandemic and now  flu season in North Carolina , here  are some differences between COVID 19 symptoms and Flu symptoms and also a comparison cold symptoms.

COVID 19 is a new infection that was discovered in 2020. It started in December 2019 in China and European countries then exposing the United States to COVID 19 not long after that . It has been affecting  people since then to now in November 2020.

What is happening to the United States during this COVID pandemic , is some states are going through another spike in cases of COVID , including our state of North Carolina.

What we did in North  Carolina , to help control COVID  was  use the dimmer switch approach.  Our  Governor Copper and his leadership team have been reading up on the science behind COVID  19 and using the science to reopen  our state in dIfferent phases.  States that opened to fast having seen a rise in their cases.  North Carolina our numbers remained stable and we had a peak in July and August ,  when colleges reopened . Following more stable numbers  we moved into  phase 2.5 which allowed us to open indoor activities that included gyms, bowling alleys  and much more. Phase 3 of the reopening of North Carolina we went ahead and opened the reminder of things that were not opened in phase 2.5  and in North Carolina recently went up and   By October 11,2020, Governor Cooper extended phase 3 for three more weeks for now  but our cases and percentages continue to fluctuate keeping us in phase 3.

The Symptoms  of COVID  19 include  fever , cough, shortness of breathe, sore throat, running or stuffy nose, muscle pains or aches, headaches and bad stomach conditions just like flu symptoms.

The differences of COVID 19  and flu include how long the Symptoms last and how bad they can be. COVID 19 symptoms. If a person has COVID  19 it takes longer to develop compared to FLU symptoms. Typically,  what will happen if some one has COVID 19 it takes 1-4 days to develop in humans

If you do testing,  they will stick a cotton swab your nose to back of your throat to check for COVID . If you test positive , you have to isolate yourself from others for 14 days until the symptoms have gone away for 48 hours . But p, if you you are negative , you continue to do  what you did before if you did before covid testing .

The cautions include wearing a mask if you around others that are not part of your house hold, waiting  6 feet apart or more to prevent the spread of COViD 19 and wash  your hands frequently. Clean your houses frequently for touch points where COVID germs might be .

The flu symptoms are much different than COVID 19 symptoms but have some similarities like COVID 19.

The influenza is also known as the flu The flu can sometimes be deadly to humans , but most do survive it. The flu is a highly contagious respiratory infection just like COVID 19. The virus of the flu can infect the nose, throat  and lungs in some people.

Flu symptoms include Fever , chills, sore throat, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue and severe stomach problems with the flu which include possibly  diarrhea  and vomiting.

Flu spreads to others by water droplet particles, sneezing, coughing or talking to others within close contact. These are also ways COVID is spread.

When you touch something you might contract the flu virus. The flu can take 1-4 days to develop  and can last a week. Flu shits are available from September to November.

The cold can take 1-3 days after you get it in your system . The symptoms of cold  include nose stuffiness, runny nose, sore throat, cough, congestion, mild headache, sneezing and fever similar to COVID  and the Flu.

The common cold is transmitted by airborne exposure or air droplets that might contain the cold virus in them, in close contact with someone and sharing items that might contain the cold germs in them. Get plenty of rest if experiencing these symptoms.

I got several shots of both Female and Male Red Headed woodpeckers on this dead tree along side of the shore of Jordan Lake . We often don't see these  very often in central parts of North Carolina but at the Lakes of Central North Carolina, you can see them and photograph them as well. This is a Carolina Anole, I photographed at the Botanical Gardens with the marvelous walkabout trying to find lots of subjects to photograph there. We photographed many Carolina Anoles, hummingbirds and many other subjects at the Botanical Gardens. Carolina Anolies are very cool to photograph when you find them espicaily at Nc Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill. This is a baby Cropes Grey Tree Frog which I also photographed at NC B

A another new variant of covid

There is many new variants of covid but the one we are going to talk about on this post is MU variant of covid virus.  The MU variant of covid was found in Columbia , South America in January 2021. This variant has caused some outbreaks in Europe, south A,Erica and the United States. The vaccines of covid and treatments are less effective in this variant.  By far this one is not spreading as quickly as the original covid variant and Delta variant of covid .  But for most the quickest one of the spread of the covid variant is still the Delta variant . The symptoms are the same as the variants of the covid and delta variant.  So please take extra caution around these variants.
