 1813: Rubber is patented 1852: The very first Edition of Peters Rogets Thesaurus is published. 1927: The Spirit of St. Louis Arch of the construction is almost complete. 1983: Harlod Washington, is sworn in as Chicagos First Black Mayor.

 1745: The Peace of Fusion is signed.  1898: The very first action of the Spanish- American War, The USS Nashville takes on a spanish ship. 1955: The United States Congress, orders all United States coins to say the motto " In God we Trust".

 1784: The ist balloon is flown into Ireland. 1861: President Abraham Lincoln, moblizes  the Federal Army. 1912: The RMS Titanic, sinks after being struck by an iceberg at 2:27 a.m. in the North Atlantic Ocean. 1986- The United States Warplanes attack Libya. 

 1789: The United States House of Representatives holds its first meeting ever. 1913: The 17th Admendment is ratified, for direct elections of senators for the 1st time. 1939: Italy invades Albania. 1975: Frank Robinson, of the Cleveland Indians, becomes the 1st black manager of a major league baseball team.

 1778: Oliver Pollock, creates the dollar sign for money. 1865- At the battle of Five Forks, General Robert E. Lee begins his final offense.  1905: Berlin and Paris are linked by telephone for the first ever in history. 1939: The Spanish Civil War Ends 1954: The United States Air Force Academy is founded in Colorado. 1982: The United States transfers the control of the Panama Canal Zone to Panama.

 1634: Lord Baltimore founds the Catholic Colony of Maryland. 1668: The very first Horse Race takes place in the Americas. 1915: The first submarine disaster occurs when a US F- 4 sinks off the coast of Hawaii. 1940: The United State agrees to give Britian and France access to All American War Planes. 1970: The very first Supersonic Jet, Concorde, makes its first flight ever!

1649: The Peace of Rueil is singed between the Fronduers and the French Goverment. 1665: A new legal code is approved for the Dutch and English towns, guaranteeing religious observations. 1702: The very first regular newspaper called " The Daily Courant" is published. 1861: A confederate Convention is held in Montgomery, Alabama.  1865: The Union General, William Sherman, and his his forces occupy Fayetteville, North Carolina. 1907: President Teddy Rosevelt, induces California to revoke its anti- Japanese Legislation. 1930: The United States President, Howard Taft, becomes the first president to be buried in the National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. 1985: Mikhail Gorbachev is named the Soviet Union leader. 1990: Lithunania declares it's independence from the Soviet Union.

Here we go for today. 1791: The very first bank of the United States is Chartered. 1791: The very first Federal Forestry legislation authorizes purchases of timberlands. 1847: State University of Iowa is approved to open. 1879: The United States Congress, passes the the very first Timberland Protection Act. 1919: Oregon is the very first state in the United States, to tax gasoline. 1945: World War 2, Turkey declares war on Germany. 1969: Marnier 6 is launched, for a fly by of the planet Mars. 1977: The  Soyuiz 24 returns back to Earth from space. 1993: The Florida Marlins, introduces their sport mascot, " Billy". 2020: A Memorial  service for the NBA Star, Kobe Byrant, is held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

 Welcome back to This Day in History for the blog. 1526: A Heavy Storm strikes the Dutch coastline and many die from it. 1690: The French & Native American Troops set Schenectady on Fire. 1735: The very first Oprea in North American colonies opens " Flora" in Charleston, South Carolina. 1944: The U-762 sinks off of Ireland. 1992: The Space Craft, Ulysses space craft passes Jupiter. 2002- Winter Olympics 21 Games Open is Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lee is named General Chef of Confederate Forces. 2004: Mark Zuckerberg, Launches Facebook from his Harvard Dormitory Room.
